Feed the Need

Once again  the students at Leabank Primary are very fortunate to be receiving hot nutritious lunches from Feed the Need Charitable Trust, who is on a mission to feed hope to Kiwi kids in Kiwi schools. This term, each student at our school will receive a variety of yummy hot soups, stews and casseroles served with bread rolls.  These include meals such as winter lamb stew, chicken and bacon casserole, pumpkin soup and beef goulash, to name a few.

The students at our school will receive their yummy hot meals on Tuesdays and Thursdays at break 2. This will commence in week five of this Term through to the 18th of August in Term 3. Please speak to your child's Teacher if you have any questions or are wanting more information about the Feed the Need lunches. 

St Patrick's Day

On 17th March, 2016 the senior school students held a green day bake day. Each of the classes baked a range of yummy green treats to sell as part of a fundraiser for a trip to Rainbows Ends.

Keeping Ourselves Safe (KOS)

Keeping Ourselves Safe (KOS) is a comprehensive child protection programme in which the students at Leabank School can learn and apply a range of safety skills that they can use when interacting with others. Term 2 will see the entire school focusing on ways children can keep themselves safe. (KOS)

Running Man Challenge

On May 11th Leabank Primary School staff, parents and community rose to the  RUNNING MAN CHALLENGE put forward by Rowandale School.  You can view  Leabank's Running Man by opening the following link below.  We hope you enjoy watching it as much as we enjoyed participating in it.

Peer Mediators.

This year we are fortunate enough to have a very dedicated group of year 5/6 students who are willing to give up at least two of their own lunch breaks to supervise the playground looking for students who may need assistance with solving minor conflicts.

These students have trained with Mrs Crompton and Mrs Parker and can be seen in the playground wearing bright lime green vest and carrying a clipboard. Keep an eye out for them.

2016 Maths Staff Professional Development

This is our second year of mathematics professional development for the staff at Leabank Primary School. The mathematics professional development has a specific focus on increasing teachers’ pedagogical content knowledge and subject content knowledge but most importantly has a specific focus on improving and accelerating mathematics achievement for our students.

What is Matariki?

Matariki is the Māori name for the star cluster known as the Pleiades. Traditionally for Māori when it appeared just before dawn in late May or early June, it signalled the start of the Māori New Year.

We are asking our whanau to keep week 6 free as the students at Leabank School will be sharing what they have learnt about Matariki and will be putting on some performances for parents and our community to come along and enjoy.
